@skyeler: If you don't have unlimited bandwidth, the money you currently spend on phone service might be better spent upgrading your Internet service. This would enable you to not only take advantage of the cost savings offered by Magic Jack, but also enjoy a better Internet experience.

the magicjack (Voice over IP) uses 80kb-1.2mb bandwidth a minute now u may say thats not alot but take into account how many calls somone makes a year and add it up thats a hell of a internet bill if u dont have unlimited bandwidth usage
and bandwidth price ranges from what internet provider you have so if u have just internet not used for torrents, streaming, ect and your bandwidth limit is low ur looking at a bill in the $1000s of dollars

I don't have a QoS router but I'll have to pick one up. My crappy Road Runner service gives me 60kbps upload and 900+kbps download speeds. If I am torrenting and uploading at 40kbps no one can understand me because my outbound bandwidth is ate up. If I reduce my torrent uploads to 25kbps people on the other end can hear me fine.
So Magic Jack needs at least 35kbps of outbound bandwidth to work properly... If FiOS network would spread faster this would be a non issue.

When I start up my magic jack I can receive calls for about 2 minutes and then when someone calls my magic jack it goes into my voicemail without ringing. I unhooked my D-link, DIR 625 router and hooked my modem up to my desktop that my magic jack is hooked up to and it works fine. I have been online with magicjack about 10 X and with D-link about 5 X and I still can't get it to work properly. Please help me and be very specific with instructions as I am very new at this.
